Marquette Method of Natural Family Planning Instruction

Interested in private or group instruction? Check it out below!

Intro Classes: (In person available at Saint Michaels in Leawood, or virtual)

Regular Cycles Intro Class: $40 for group class

Private Intro Class: $65 for 1:1 class

Private Breastfeeding/Postpartum Class: $65 for 1:1 class

Follow Up (Not Included in Intro Class Price; virtual)

  • General follow up x1 year: $150

  • Breastfeeding follow up x6 months: $100

-Why is breastfeeding instruction more expensive? Generally, the postpartum transition requires more instruction as things change. It's important to have a seasoned instructor who can guide you through the hormone fluctuations if you are strictly trying to avoid pregnancy. It may require us to have a few additional meetings, chart reviews, and email exchanges to ensure you are confident and successful in your family planning goals.

Note: You must attend an introductory session before (or in conjunction with) signing up for follow up.

FAQ about the Marquette Method

What is it?

The Marquette Model of Natural Family Planning (NFP) is a model that uses urine biomarkers that are collected and measured at home to measure hormone levels. These urinary hormones can be used in conjunction with cervical mucus and/or basal body temperature.  It's been around since the late 1990's! Check out their website for all the specific info here.

Why is this important?

Check out detailed info on the Catholic churches teachings here, and why NFP is supported by the church.

How does it work?

The ClearBlue Easy Fertility monitor reads urinary hormones (Estrogen and LH) to determine a level of fertility. An algorithm is used to confidently identify a couples fertile window, which leads to success in avoid pregnancy or achieving pregnancy, based on the couples goals.

Does it REALLY work to avoid pregnancy?

Yes! Who likes statistics?! And more statistics! And MORE STATISTICS!

How much time does it take?

If using the monitor alone, in less than 5 minutes, you can measure your hormones in the morning and move on with your day!

What are some advantages of the Marquette Method?

A big 'pro' I hear over and over from couples who have switched from another NFP method to the Marquette Method, is OBJECTIVITY. Also, as you can see from the above statistics, it's highly accurate.

Usually an introduction session is enough to get a couple in regular cycles started! I do recommend follow ups to ensure accuracy in the protocols and confidence in the method.

Is the ClearBlue Fertility monitor required for me to practice the Marquette Method?

Although many couples prefer the monitor because of the above advantages, it is not required. The Marquette Method also has mucus only protocol, LH strip only protocol and basal body temperature protocol.

That being said, if you are breastfeeding/postpartum, I would highly recommend investing in a monitor. Check out the effectiveness rates of using the monitor when postpartum here!

If you are a single woman, or a young girl looking to learn more about her body, mucus observations are generally greatly helpful to assess the menstrual cycle and cycle health. I am very passionate about cycle teaching for young girls, so reach out if that is interesting to you!

Is it a 1 size fits all method?

Just like all elements in healthcare, there is rarely a 1 size fits all approach. NFP instruction is no different, and each woman/couple will get a tailored approach based on a combination of factors.

What training do you have?

I have worked with over 200 couples (and counting) for individual NFP education and counseling, and taught dozens more at group classes. I have Restorative Reproductive Medicine (RRM) and fertility management experience at a family practice office as a family nurse practitioner. I am a Board Certified Marquette Method Certified Professional (meaning I have completed training, took a comprehensive board certifying exam, maintain NFP and Marquette Method specific CEUs, have completed case studies, and currently work with numerous clients!) I am also NeoFertility Medically trained as of the Spring of 2024, and enjoy working with difficult medical cases. See my about me page for more information too!

I am interested and want to pursue learning the Marquette Method! What next?

Shoot me a message, and we can set up a time to get started! I look forward to hearing from you!
