Growing Up Girl: Wonderfully Made!

Moms&Daughters

(geared for ages 9-12)

Get the Details:

Come join me for a fun filled, 90 minute class full of of age-appropriate information where daughters sit with their moms (or aunts, grandmas, other trusted adult, ect.) and learn all about the beauty of God's design in creating girls!

Whether you have already had many open conversations about "growing up", or you have not even breeched the topic just yet, this class is for you and your daughter.

Because I believe that parents have the first responsibility to educate their children, my overarching goal for this class is to encourage life-long, healthy, mother/daughter relationships and to inspire communication, long after you leave the class.

*Important Note: This is in NO way a procreative discussion. I focus solely on the female body.

Below is a framework of the class topics:

  • Discussion on how God created us in His image, and how incredible our bodies are as a whole, to function day-to-day as they do.

  • Phases of growing up, beginning with outward changes and development.

  • Basic overview of female anatomy.

  • All about periods and hormones in a basic way, with easy to follow analogies and comparisons.

  • What happens throughout the month regarding cervical mucus. I don't talk about *why* it happens (in regards to procreation), but that it does as a way that is good and healthy for the body as God designed it to be. My goal is to inform, normalize and prepare girls for what starts to happen to their bodies and what will happen for years to come.

  • Discuss other important topics and priorities to make girls feel their best as they go through their teen years and beyond, including the importance of sleep, nutrition, hygiene, solid and healthy relationships, and most importantly, growing in your faith life.

Goals:

  •        To give our daughters the facts.

  •        To ensure our daughters know the truth.

  •        To support in fostering a strong, lifelong relationship with your daughter.

My "Why"

I have worked in healthcare for over 12 years and counting. As a family nurse practitioner and a Marquette Method of Natural Family Planning Instructor, I have seen countless women across the lifespan come to me frustrated about their bodies: The lack of basic understanding, the disapproval they feel that their body isn't "working right", or both.

I believe parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children, which is why, now more than ever, we need to bring the focus back to the family and provide parents with the tools to give their kids the TRUTH, which encompasses combining both the FACTS about their bodies and the BEAUTY within their bodies from our Great Creator.

My goal is to provide education to both the moms and daughters, and then put the discussion topics back on the pair as they leave the class. This should encourage fostering openness, communication and strengthen the relationship knowing that mom is always their #1 resource.

“The loveliest masterpiece of the heart of God is the heart of a mother.”
-St. Thérèse of Lisieux
